Orange Attic Films

AI × Analog Cinema
Narratives distorted, rebuilt with purpose
Orange Attic Films is a director led cinematic studio exploring the intersections of perception, memory, power, and narrative form through fiction, experimental cinema, and hybrid storytelling.

Built around a philosophy we define as AI × Analog Cinema, the studio combines emerging technologies with human performance, physical space, and analogue filmmaking to construct psychologically charged cinematic worlds grounded in atmosphere, tension, and visual precision.

Rather than approaching filmmaking as isolated production, Orange Attic develops interconnected works shaped by long term artistic continuity and evolving cinematic form.

Studio Structure

Founded in 2012 by Iranian born filmmaker and director Shahrokh Nael, Orange Attic Films operates through a recurring ensemble of performers, artists, and collaborators who contribute across multiple projects over time.

Based in Manchester, the studio develops original works through a lean, director led production model focused on continuity, trust, and sustained creative collaboration.

At the centre of this process is The Ensemble a returning body of collaborators whose ongoing participation shapes the evolving identity of the studio and its films.

Creative Direction

Orange Attic Films is led by filmmaker and creative director Shahrokh Nael.

His work blends narrative cinema with experimental form, shaped by psychological and political undercurrents and a strong focus on cinematic structure and atmosphere.

Rather than simply directing scenes, his role is to construct complete cinematic systems where image, sound, and narrative operate as a unified world.

Cinematic Director of Photography

A Manchester based Director of Photography, Chris brings a cinematic edge honed through narrative films and commercial work for brands like Amazon, Microsoft, and Coca Cola. His eye for atmosphere, light, and story texture gives our projects visual impact that lingers.

Senior Production Specialist

With over 20 years in live performance, festivals, and touring productions, Janine is the logistical engine behind some of our most ambitious shoots. Her ability to translate creative chaos into structured execution makes her an essential part of Orange Attic’s high level planning.

Partners & Sponsors

We are grateful for the support of our partners and sponsors, whose collaboration made these projects possible. Their commitment to creativity and innovation has helped bring our vision to life, providing resources and encouragement at every step.

Featuring their logos here is a small way to recognise their invaluable contribution to our work and our journey forward.

Current Activities

We are currently developing The Forgotten Song, a three part cinematic work exploring memory, silence, and emotional fragmentation.

The project is being produced as a series of interconnected films, allowing the narrative to unfold across multiple perspectives while maintaining a cohesive cinematic language.

This stage marks an ongoing expansion of the studio’s work into longer form, interconnected storytelling structures.

Recognition & Acknowledgments

Selected works have been recognised across independent film platforms and festivals, reflecting the studio’s ongoing commitment to experimental and narrative driven cinema.

These acknowledgements mark points within a larger, continuous body of work rather than endpoints.
